What is God like? Reeds and Wicks

Hey, Y'all,

It occurs to me that one of these days Lea is going to ask her dad what God is like. Been thinking about the answer; get the feeling this could take a while :-) So here's the first in a series...

This is what God is like, little Lea:

A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
Isaiah 42:3

How 'bout you? What is God like?

You've been prayed for today.

I would really love to hear some kid stories from folks about this because God is a popular topic in our house from my kindergartener and first grader. LOTS of questions and mommy never knows what to say. Somebody should do a spinoff blog on tips for parents- Juan and Evonne, you'll have to wait a few years! For example, the conversation last night between my two kids was, "Which planet came first?" "I don't know, but God would. He made all the planets so of course he would know, right Mommy?" Then of course this transitioned right into, "Mommy, is God a boy or a girl?" Again my answer was not good enough for them so then I hear, "Well I think he is a boy because God is a boy name" and "I think he is a boy and he looks like Ben Kanobi's master, Qui-Gon on Star Wars. Is that what he looks like, Mommy?"
Now just wait until Lea is asking you THESE questions!

Now THAT's hilarious--primarily 'cause I wasn't the one expecting to sound intelligent in replying to their queries--no pressure :-) Their powers of deduction are clearly not to be trifled with (especially on the Qui-Gon one :-)

Thanks, Kerri.

So how 'bout it--anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Love is patient, and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice,
but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
and endures through every circumstance.
Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--
and the greatest of these is love.
...GOD is LOVE
That's what I tell my babies:-)
